Why are there two methods?
Structure optimisation shrinks a PDF without touching its content, but has limits. Maximum compression re-renders pages as images — much smaller, but text stops being selectable and searchable.
Will my certificate still be readable at 200 KB?
Usually yes for a few pages. If a target would make the document unreadable, the tool refuses and says so instead of delivering an unusable file.
Does compression remove the PDF's password?
No. A protected PDF needs its password to be processed, and the tool never stores it.
